Tumblr Dedicated to the Multi-talented Keke Palmer
My sister and I visited New York City this weekend to catch the Sunday night performance of Cinderella on Broadway!
To sum up the experience in one word: Amazing! Keke Palmer and Sherri Shepard were great in their roles as Ella, the sweet ingenue, and Madame, the evil but somehow hilarious step mother. Their quirky interpretations of the characters truly brought the show to life. The whole cast was amazing really. There was an element of humor in the dialogue that made the show stand out from any of the earlier renditions of Cinderella I’ve seen. Not to mention the costume changes were almost as magical as the story line itself.
And Keke’s voice (!) is so well suited for theater. I was truly impressed with her obvious knack for this class of performance. So much so that I’m pretty sure I started to do some version of a church girl rock during one of the numbers (“Impossible” I think it was, lol).
During the curtain call I took a forbidden photo (eek) and then my sister and I politely squeezed past Rev Sharpton, who had been seated some feet away from us, so that I could go outside into the fresh air and freak out! (I was under the spell of the performance of course).
All and all my sister and I were thrilled by our experience at the Broadway Theater. Albeit, for the first few minutes of the opening act I was unable to look directly at “Cinderella” due to a mix of awe, star-struckeness and cognitive dissonance, lol. I’ve never seen any of my favorite entertainers perform live, and this was certainly an awesome first.
What an odd day. I felt like walking around my house naked all day. No idea why.
